As Seen on HGTV…
Who would have thought we would ever be able to use this tag line….. As Seen On HGTV.
We’re beyond honored to share our unforgettable experience staging what might just be the Scariest House in America, as it underwent a stunning renovation for HGTV!! Nestled in the heart of Saunderstown, this rustic house in the woods offered a perfect canvas for Salt + Pine to bring our signature aesthetic, blending coastal elegance with warm, earthy vibes that align so well with this home’s rugged surroundings.
The renovation masterfully restored the home’s charm, weaving in warmth and sophistication while maintaining its woodsy, historic allure. Our staging brought that vision to life, merging coastal elegance with earthy, rustic touches to highlight both the home’s inviting appeal and mysterious character.
Being part of HGTV’s team was exhilarating and full of surprises from start to finish! We started the day at our warehouse, just like any other stage. We met our crew, the amazing Booya Sustainable Junk Removal. We loaded up the truck and headed to Saunderstown. We really had no idea what to expect. When we arrived around 9am, it was already chaos. There was a huge truck unloading sod… yup they were laying the sod as filming was happening!
Once we reached the house Kristen and I were immediately mic'd and we started unloading. It was very slow going, we would unload and then have to stop and be quiet on the set while filming occurred. There was one part of the day that Lauren (one of our crew) and I got stuck up in the loft for 30min! We had to “look” busy for filming so we kept adding moss to a potted tree… for 30 min.
There was no AC in the house so we were all quite sweaty, not exactly how I would choose to look for our TV debut. But Kristen and I had fun with it and we went along with the Producers idea to replicate the twins from The Shining. We will now be known for “Alison come stage with us”. But hey, it was a good experience and we are excited for Salt + Pine. We can now say that we were on TV.
It was a long day of styling, adjusting, and perfecting each space to capture just the right ambiance for the camera. Filming brought its own challenges—wearing a microphone all day was a first for us, and it made for a fun learning experience! But seeing our work come alive on screen was completely worth it.
Watching our Salt + Pine aesthetic transform this once-spooky setting into something breathtaking yet still full of mystery was beyond rewarding. Check out the big reveal—trust us, you don’t want to miss how this rustic, spine-tingling property turned out!
